Just for Fun

Kitty in a Box

·
After nearly 39 years of marriage, my husband and I no longer have a cat. We had three over the course of those years, and they were all well-loved by us and the kids. We lost the last one last summer. So now we enjoy the antics of our “Grandkitty?” Is that a thing? She’s kind of a hoot and it’s fun to enjoy her without having to clean the hair and litter box! 🙂 Are you attached to any pets?

January is National Oatmeal Month

·
I recently learned that January is National Oatmeal Month. We eat a lot of hot cereal in our family. What about you? What’s your family’s philosophy on oatmeal?

I Hate Ironing

·
I’ve only agreed to iron a shirt for my husband twice in my life. Once was the day before we got married, for our rehearsal dinner. That one I did, as pictured above. The other was the day I went into labor with our second child. That shirt I didn’t iron. I told him I had more pressing things to do. For more on this topic, see this post. What will you do to get out of ironing?

Of Course Size Matters

·
I love this cute little handbag I got from my mother-in-law. But I hardly ever use it. I just can’t fit enough stuff in it. I’m the person who always has a pen, paper to write on, tissues, hand wipes, cough drop, mint, Tylenol, stamps, extra straw, tape measure and more! What about you? Can you get by with a stylish tiny purse?

Quote of the Day

·
“If you don’t quit, you will succeed.” —Don Vaughan from “The Seven Pillars of Freelance Success” So don’t quit. When was the last time you felt like quitting? What did you do?

Chocolate of choice

·
I’m enjoying the last of my Christmas Christopher Elbow chocolates today. Almost too pretty to eat, but, yeah, I’m eating them! Which do you prefer: white, milk or dark chocolate?

Self shopping is fun!

·
Woo-hoo! Picked up a couple of stocking stuffers for myself yesterday. I always help the hubs out a little and pick up a few things here and there. It’s a tried-and-true method of getting things I like/want/need and making holiday shopping less stressful for him! Do you buy your own gifts?

New Christmas Ornaments 2021

·
Every year I love making something for each family member. Some years I knit something. This year I made ornaments. The blue one is made from card stock I found in a drawer upstairs. The gnome required a few purchased products–a wooden egg; tiny red pom-poms for noses; felt, bells and ribbon for the hats; and polyester stuffing for the beards. Oh. And don’t forget hot glue sticks. Can’t make much of anything without hot glue!

Kitty Hide and Seek

·
Even though our black Bombay cat Safa is elderly, he still plays hide and seek under the covers of my bed, for instance, under a chair or in the big box that the cat condo came in. (He mostly ignores the latter.)
